We are excited to announce that Zion’s Daughters’ open season has arrived once again!!!! There will be a Interest/Parent meeting for both prospective and returning Zion's Daughters members. The meeting will be held Friday, September 5th at the new ZD Youth Empowerment Center, 4516 Beech Road, Temple Hills, MD 20748 from 7p to 9p. Every dancer under 18 that is participating must have a parent or guardian present at the meeting. Parents and dancers will have the chance to learn more about the company, including it's purpose, mission, and procedures. Detailed information regarding the upcoming ministry season will also be discussed.
In addition to attending the interest meeting, dancers must also participate in a placement evaluation. Placement evaluations for dancers, age five to twenty-three, will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Dance Dimensions, 7979 Parston Drive, District Heights, MD. Placements will be held from 2p to 6:30p. However, dancers will be auditioning in 45-minute intervals based on age and experience and will not be required to remain for the duration of the placements. Dancers should be dressed in black or purple (ZD) leotards and flesh-toned tights, if they already own these items. If not, all black, fitted clothing should be worn, ie. leggings and a t-shirt. Only stud earrings will be permitted and all hair must be neatly secured off of the face.
Please see the following list of audition times and be sure your dancer is in attendance at the correct time. Also, parents please be prepared as some dancers may be asked to audition at multiple time slots in efforts to create groups of dancers that blend well together.
2:00p – 2:45p – Beginner I Level Dancers ages 5 to 8
2:50p – 3:35p – Beginner II Level Dancers ages 7 to 10
3:40p – 4:25p – Intermediate I Level Dancers ages 9 to 12
4:30p – 5:15p – Intermediate II Level Dancers ages 11 to 17
5:20p – 6:05p – Advanced Level Dancers ages 16 to 24
NOTE: There will be a separate meeting for new and returning ADULT dancers.
For all new members, there will be a $50 registration fee, due as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, October 3, 2014. The registration fee includes one ZD Practice Leotard and the initial monthly tuition. The registration fee will vary for families with multiple dancers. Registration fees can be paid using cash, check, or money order and will be accepted following the meeting.
While at the placement evaluations, dancers and parents will also get the opportunity to ask questions about ZDD, get fitted for uniforms, view proper company uniforms and attire, and meet current members of the company.
